Missing insurance days in Greece: checking your record and making an e-EFKA claim

How to check missing Greek insurance days, organise employment evidence and approach e-EFKA. The twelve-month complaint deadline after leaving employment.

Which period is missing and which entry appears wrong?

Begin with a precise question: is an entire period missing, are fewer days recorded, or do the reported earnings differ? The Individual Insurance Account shows employee entries by employer and period. The summary and detailed insurance history also helps review records across former insurance funds.

Save the download with its date. Both tools are informational, so do not present a printout as an official insurance certificate for every purpose. Identify the entry requiring explanation or correction before concluding that the employer omitted it. There is no single insurance-day figure to apply mechanically to every employment arrangement.

Comparing the record with the work you actually performed

Prepare a simple table with the month, workplace, days and hours worked, agreed earnings, payments received and the insurance entry displayed. This turns a general statement that insurance days are missing into a set of identifiable periods and discrepancies that can be checked.

Gather payslips, bank statements, schedules, contracts and employer declarations available through ERGANI. Separate what the documents show from what you remember or still need to confirm. Keep the original files and agree a secure way of transferring them before sending personal information to another person.

  • Exact employment period and workplace address
  • Employer identity and tax number, where available
  • Insurance record, payslips and payment evidence
  • Date of leaving or dismissal and any earlier application

The insurance procedure and the deadline to check

For missing or incomplete insurance, e-EFKA’s official guidance identifies the Employee Complaint – Declaration of Employment service or the competent PEKA inspection centre where online access is not possible. It states up to twelve months after leaving or dismissal for timely submission. This concerns that insurance procedure, not every employment claim.

A new e-EFKA enquiries, reports and complaints system has also operated since 12 October 2026. A general enquiry should not be confused with the specific insurance-regularisation procedure: confirm the appropriate submission route and retain proof of final filing. Do not let a deadline approach while waiting for an answer to a general question.

Following up and separating an unpaid-wages claim

Submitting a request does not immediately add insurance days to your record. Follow its progress, retain each response and arrange review of any decision and further deadline. Once the process has concluded, compare the affected periods again with your original table.

If wages are also unpaid, keep a separate account of amounts due and payments. A labour dispute procedure or another legal step may be needed for employment claims. For a case in Heraklion or elsewhere in Crete, the initial assessment should establish what is being requested from each authority and which date takes priority.
